Agricultural fencing is priced and built differently to residential. Runs are long, ground is uneven, and the fence has to stand up to animals leaning on it. The corner assemblies do most of the work — everything else is wire stretched between them, and a fence with weak corners goes slack no matter how good the wire is.
Woven or field wire is the general-purpose choice for cattle and mixed stock, with tighter spacing lower down where it matters. Barbed adds deterrent on top or throughout for cattle. High-tensile holds tension over long distances with fewer posts, which brings cost down on big runs, though it needs proper bracing and periodic tensioning.
This is where running the clearing equipment ourselves earns its keep. Old ag fence lines are almost always grown in — cedars through the wire, brush along the whole length, wire buried in a hedge row. We take the line back to open ground, pull the old fence out, and build the new one in the same mobilisation instead of you paying two outfits and coordinating them.

Can you clear an old fence line grown into the trees?
Yes, and it's the main reason acreage owners call us. We run mulching and clearing equipment, so cedars and brush come off the line, the old wire gets pulled and hauled, and the new fence goes up on the same trip.
What fence do I need for cattle?
Woven or field wire, often with a barbed strand on top, is the common answer. Spacing and height depend on the stock and whether you're also keeping calves in. Tell us what you're running and we'll spec it to that.
How far apart do posts go?
It depends on the wire and the ground — high-tensile spans further between posts than woven wire, and rolling ground needs more posts to hold the line down through dips. We space to the run rather than to a formula.
